I avoided coming to TooJay's for a while, because honestly I didn't think it would be that good. Boy was I wrong! I think it definitely depends on what you get, but the deli sandwiches are great! And I am a New Yorker, so I certainly have had lots of deli over the years to compare it to. We came on a weeknight and they brought us over to a booth in the back right in front of the football game (doing well so far). The waitress was super friendly and really great to chat with. My husband got a cup of matzoh ball soup which he said wasn't great but then we were both quite surprised by the pastrami on rye. Really good pastrami. I had mine with a cream soda, which always seems appropriate when eating a deli sandwich. We got half a pound of tuna and a loaf of their bread to go to make sandwiches with the next day. Their tuna is great as well! I think as long as you stick with the deli basics you will be happy with what you get.

When we visit fl this is our breakfast place before hitting lake worth beach. For us it is a staple and alqays good.

Always get the same the soup and half sandwich. A half is so big it is like eating a whole sandwich. I always get the matzoh ball soup although it is a poor excuse for matzoh ball soup. Nothing like if you were to go to a real New York deli. Service was decent the waitress are just old and cranky and you can tell they have no desire to be waiting tables at 70 years old. At least for a deli they keep the place clean. Try the rye bread it is homemade and excellent. Not your typical Jewish eye but the fact it is made there makes it taste homemade.

I went with my father and his companion last night for my Dads 77th birthday. He had the pastrami and I had turkey breast and chopped liver on rye. Both sandwiches were delicious. However, my father remarked on how much smaller the sandwich was from previous visits to the same location. The server also forgot the pickle and Russian dressing I asked for. It took him about 10 minutes to deliver it to the table. Now the biggest complaint was with my Dads companions order which were the potato latkes! They were so over cooked that the looked almost burnt and most of it was inedible. I told her to tell the waiter about them and see what they will do. The manager removed the latkes from the bill! The matzoh ball soup is okay. The soup usually has too much onion in it. The chopped liver is excellent. The rye bread is very fresh and yummy!

PLEASE! Stop calling me honey, sweetheart, luv, beautiful etc. It's insincere and extremely off putting. I thought today I'm not sire if I can keep coming here it's so offensive. It's like they're instructed to do it because so many of them do. Why turn me off when you have a good product?! I know there are bad names they could be calling me. :-) But I sincerely find it a real negative.

The good is great, as always. Their service can be slower than normal though and I honestly think that may be just because they are so busy. The staff is friendly, restaurant clean. Over all it's my Too Jays of choice.

Normally our go to place for breakfast. Not sure if because it's Saturday but my poached eggs were way over cooked- they bring new ones which were perfect. and service was off today. We will always come back but maybe skip the weekends.

I have eaten at TooJay's about 4 times and have had an excellent meal experience every time. The service can be slow, but the servers are friendly, and the meal is worth the wait. As a vegetarian, I oftentimes find myself with the same "old faithful", Italian food. I've had just about every kind of Italian meal and do not get overly-excited by it anymore; however, that changed on Thursday of this week. Based on a recommendation, I decided to have the Vegetable Pasta. OMG!!! It was better than I had ever dreamed. The sauce was to die for, the vegetables were crunchy, and the portions are HUGE! I took it home and had it the next night as well, and it was just as delicious. I have also had the Vegetable Reuben and the quesadilla (both fantastic). I would recommend this establishment to anyone as their menu is diverse.

I had the brisket sandwich and it was flavorless and pretty much forgettable you know it's bad when the highlight of your lunch is the pickle that accompanied the sandwich. Won't be going back here anytime soon!! They are lucky to get two stars I def don't understand the hype maybe its because I'm a "gentile"!!

I would not recommend this deli, although other options in the area may be slim. Their selection of chips and drinks is mediocre, while their soggy fries are atrocious. They messed up our order, though not too badly. Also, the wait seemed longer than it needed to be (20+ minutes for a three sandwiches and a few orders of pre-made tuna salad?) They said it was because they make all their food to order, e.g. they had to fry the chicken. But I'm from New Jersey, and there all the delis seem to have chicken cutlets, etc, ready to go. Still, the other sandwich was satisfying. Not particularly great, but got the job done. It may be slim pickins but friends you deserve more. Florida- you can do better!

i was in the West Palm area visiting family, and my brother and I decided to stop by TooJay's for lunch this past Monday. For lunch, I ordered the Chopped Liver and the stuffed cabbage roll appetizers. The chopped liver was excellent and as good as any that I've had in the best New York City delis. I was not as pleased with the cabbage roll. The cabbage was tough and the filling was bland. My brother ordered the tuna salad sandwich with extra bread. Two heaping mounds of tuna that my brother rated five stars. He loves the bread and the many items in the well stocked pastry case. My brother is a regular customer. Friendly service and clean environment. I like this place.

Great deli-restaurant. Service can be spotty when busy but is generally good. Good menu choices. Best Chicken Stir Fry I've ever had. Incredible desserts! Recommend for delicious reasonably priced dinner anytime you're in the area.

I was raised in a deli in the Bronx and was taught the trade by one of the original NY deli masters (my Dad). And I have worked in 6-8 delis over the years so I feel that I am adequately equipped to review a NY deli in FL I have eaten at 2Jays 3-4 times and this review and experience was similar to the other visits. This place is ok. It has some strengths and a lot of weaknesses which prevented me from giving it more than three stars... the fare... Corned beef on rye - decent CB, below average bread. Potato Salad - Crap. Better potato salad where I live in Louisiana and its not even from a deli. Chicken matzo ball soup. Crap. Who the hell puts thyme in chicken soup? Not any Jewish deli or restaurant that I know of. Matzo balls were ok. Chop salad - delicious and huge... Their salads are very good for a deli. I go here because my mom likes it... personally, if it was up to me, I much prefer 3Gs in Delray Beach,.

Disappointed. Waited for a half hour for our order to arrive in when the restaurant was half empty. When the food finally arrived it was cold. Will not return.

We were in Florida for vacation and this is the first restaurant outing we had. After a few hours at the beach we decided to get some lunch. I have some special dietary needs so finding a place to eat is not always easy. We looked at the menu for at least four other restaurants in the area before deciding on this place. There was an entire vegetarian section so I knew I was safe. I debated on a few items before deciding on the Black Bean burger. I had the waitress take out the sour cream and added some grilled onions instead. The burger was pretty good. It reminded me of the garden burger patties, which it quite possibly could have been. It was good though. Filling and satisfying. There were some fries on the side that were ok. Not very crispy. Everyone else was pretty happy with their meals as well. My sister got a regular burger, my mom got a classic Rueben, and my husband got the vegetarian Rueben which he really liked. I was jealous I couldn't eat it because of the cheese and dressing because it looked pretty amazing. Because of the generous vegetarian section, this place could make any party happy. The food was good, the service was pretty quick for how busy it was. And most of the offerings were pretty reasonable.

A plethora of great deli options with generous portions. Fast friendly service. Their rye bread is particularly fresh and delicious, the French onion soup is perfection.

Toojays: your steady decline is alarming. A message to corporate: act fast or say goodbye to business. Food has become absolutely disgusting. Fresh bagels are a thing of the past for this institution. Service is slow and awful. Not to mention extremely pricy! A deli shouldn't be too difficult to mess up but TooJays you've managed to do just that. Stay away. Plenty of other delis and places for breakfast in PB county.

The rueben was very good. But........ Service is slow! I would definitely dine there again, but only when I have time to linger.

This location is less busy than the others and for whatever reason less good. The oversized deli sandwiches are good.

Food is always good. I usually get it to go. Today I wasn't feeling well so I walked in and ordered the cheddar & bacon dog special. I wasn't paying attention to the time as I am feeling under the weather. The manager calls me up to the counter and said they screwed up, sent my order with a delivery by mistake and said they'd re-fire it asap. When I picked it up - they apologized profusely and refunded my money. Now THAT is customer service!

This is a usual lunch place for my office. It's always delicious. I've regularly gotten turkey avocado wrap with the aeoli (sp?). Turkey is sliced from the breast - no deli meat crap here. This place also has sour pickles. I usually get at least 3 and eat 2 on my way to the office. And my meal comes with a dill pickle. Soooo pickles all around. I've also had their California fruit salad with the yogurt. YUM! A consistently good spot in a cute downtown location.

Delicious Jewish style deli chain that I have been to in the past. I had one of their "favorites" which was a corned beef sandwich -- it came on my choice of bread (Rye) and with a pickle spear and cole slaw. Very delicious. I started off my meal with a nice bowl of chili - which was very, very delicious. The cheese melted on top of the bowl topped it off!

Very disappointed..... Just moved into the area and haven't eaten at Too Jays in ages...ordered a Reuben to go and got home to corned beef only... No cheese, sauce, kraut or slaw....

We have been to 2 other Toojays. One was great and one ok. However, the one in Lake Worth was terrible. The food was ok but the dip for the Brisket was cold and lacking much taste. The sweet potato fries were cold on one order. We also noticed our waitress was overwhelmed while other staff members, including what looked like the Manager, were standing around. As a result the service was very slow. Overall, it was a disappointing experience on what seems like a good deli. The problem appears to be the management from what we could see (our lunch partner is a trained Chef and former restaurant Manager). I will give Toojays another chance but it will be a while before I can convince my wife and friends to try it.

This place is an institution--have been going for years. I no longer live in the area, but always go when I visit family. No frills, as said, but great sandwiches...and fries.

  • Erin R.

Toojay's has variety to sate any palette or appetite. You can also stop by the bakery for pastry on your way out (crepe, it's amazing here!) The wait staff are helpful, good-humored people, too. Try the turkey bacon lettuce tomato (Russian dressing on the side) sandwich (with your choice of side dish) or the citrus chicken platter! They have 1/2 soup, 1/2 sandwich pairings that fill you up/ can split with a friend. Great Jewish deli!

  • Susan J.

Great deli with solid sandwiches (BLTs, reubens, tuna melts), good matzah ball soup and a delicious bakery assortment (black & white cookies, rugelah). The french fries are soggy, the service is not great, there is often a wait, and the decor is old and boring. Go for the food not the atmosphere.

As close as you will get to a Jewish deli in the neighborhood. Service is rushed, but then again the "alte cockers" are in a rush to get their food. I remember that the floor always had lots of detritus on it from previous diners, something I find very unappealing. Soups are good. corned beef ok, If only they could get real NY rye bread. The breads across the board are too light and fluffy. But hey, when your in the land of sunshine, and many of your customers wear dentures, you take what you can get. Do yourself a favor. Take out !

toojay's gets 4 stars even though they have no smoked sable and mediocre bagels. but for florida (as opposed to say new jersey), this is a great jewish deli! the waitresses are hilariously rude in that "we're family" sort of way and the food is prettty tasty. my dad is happy when he can get his chopped liver and my mom loves her egg cream! as for me - just some matzah balls, some potato latkes, and a good hard salami.

  • Irwin S.

My wife and I went to here last night for the first time in a while. Chicken soup and potato pancake were great, but the corned beef was tough as if it had been heated, cooled and then heated again. This is not the first time I have had disappointing corned beef there.

Worst pastrami sandwich in history of deli's. dry and very small meat to bread ratio, disappointing u can't find a good n y deli in s fla. ( I'm from s fla and would like to find a local one).

Coming from the Northeast in a predominantly Jewish area, I was looking for my deli fix while visiting family snowbirds. Toojay's is no frills, you've got your meats and your seats. This location is separated into two distinct areas. The deli/takeout counter at the front offers a variety of cold cuts and meals to takeout; there's steady foot traffic. The restaurant half is diner-style, mainly over sized booth seating along the windows. After coming here a few times, I can recommend the following: Caesar salad. is. awesome. Don't think about it, order it. Salmon cakes: Eww, gross. They are dry and intolerable. The wild rice that comes on the side with them is also bland and does not pair well. However, the deli sandwiches are a safe and solid meal choice.
